Case History: Electromagnetic pollution evaluation
Electromagnetic Impact Analysis in the railway Compartment of Milan
The goal of the measurement program carried out is to verify that the electromagnetic field, present in the spaces indicated by the client (RFI compartment of Milan), does not exceed the legal limits. The measurements are carried out at the points specified in the normal working activity following the indications of the CEI 211-6 ‘Guidelines for the measurement and evaluation of electric and magnetic fields in the frequency range 0Hz-10KHz. With reference to human exposure and CEI 211 -7 ‘Guidelines for the measurement and evaluation of electromagnetic fields in the frequency range 10 kHz – 300 GHz, with reference to human exposure’ The evaluation of electromagnetic fields has been carried out with a view to safeguarding the health of workers.
Electromagnetic Impact Analysis in Manufacturing Companies
The need for electromagnetic pollution analysis arises when machines that can be sources of electromagnetic fields are used in the production process. For example when using PVC welding machines. In this case, these are dielectric loss heaters that are able to produce heat directly inside the treated material and are used for welding and moulding plastic (PVC) products. The powers involved reach several tens of Kw and the frequency used is 27.12MHz. The evaluation of electromagnetic fields has been made with a view to safeguarding the health of workers. To this end, the employer’s instructions have been followed and the working methods indicated in the machine tool user manuals and, above all, the operating methods indicated by the employees have been implemented.
